Many musicians defy genre. Some musicians dance across it. Combining conventionally American singer-songwriter storytelling with influences from Cajun zydeco, West African isicathamiya, and Brazilian samba, Paul Simon's music offers an incredible window into the nature of cross-cultural collaborations. Join bassist Nick Rawson and guitarist EJ Crocker as they trace Paul Simon's career, from his acoustic roots to his pan-cultural later sound. 4:00 pm, MJ Wicks Wellness Center
Join EJ Crocker and Olympia guitarist Tarik Bentlemsani in a romp through several Brazilian guitar styles, and an exploration of what the guitar (or violao) has meant to Brazilian culture. Free and open to all ages!
We are grateful to Olympia Jazz Central for a chance to play at the Eagles' Lodge--since the closure of the Rhythm and Rye, this has become Oly's new hub for jazz, and we are honored to play our music here. Suggested donation $10-15...but please do help us cover payment for our sound technician and bartender (:
We're throwing down on some jazz standards and would love for you to join us (:
